    Mary Jean Dahlstrom

    February 12, 1924 - March 5, 2022

    Mary Jean (Haines) Dahlstrom passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Jean was born to George (Sam) and Merrith Haines on February 12th, 1924 in Hinckley MN. She spent a happy childhood on the family farm in Cloverdale MN with her brothers Art and Jim Haines. After High school, Mary Jean moved to Minneapolis, began her career, and met the love of her life Irving Dahlstrom. They were married in 1948 and settled in southwest Minneapolis. They enjoyed 60 years together while raising their 6 children Mary Jean led a life of compassion and faith. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin, was an active member of the American Swedish Institute and was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic church. She also helped launch the Meals on Wheels program in southwest Minneapolis. Mary Jean surrounded herself loving family and friends. She was a born entertainer and loved to host a great dinner party. Mary Jean was preceded in death by husband Irving Dahlstrom, daughter Diane Krause and grandson Casey Phillips. She is survived by children, Tom (Rhonda) Dahlstrom, Debbie "DJ" (Nick Duren) Phillips, Marti (Mike) Porter, Bob (Susan) Dahlstrom, and Beth (Bill) Kreutziger; grandchildren, Josh, Jessica, Annabelle, Andrew, Sophie, Lindsey, Allison, Nick, Kaitlin, and Lauren. Memorials preferred to Christ the King Catholic church in Minneapolis and the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 12th with visitation one hour prior, all at Christ the King Church, 5029 Zenith Ave S., Minneapolis.
