Dunnigan, Margaret "Maggie" W., age 96, of Eden Prairie, died on October 30, 2021. Preceded in death by husband John Dunnigan, by parents, Barton and Margaret Witchell and by baby brother, David Witchell. Survived by children, Susan (Wesley) Sund, Judith (Richard) Poe, David Odell, John (Erin) Odell, Robert (Bridget) Odell, and stepchildren, Ann (Mathew) Morelli, David Dunnigan and Kathleen Dunnigan. Also survived by ten grandchildren, David (Kathryn) Sund, Laura Sund, Meredith (Dustin) Fenley, Elizabeth Poe, Charles Odell, Marissa (Thomas) Muenzberg, Keegan Odell, Kaitlin Odell, Sophia Morelli, Nicolaus Morelli and three great grandchildren, Eliza, Clayton and Bennett Fenley. Margaret Ann Witchell was born in Tulsa, OK, on July 7, 1925. Raised in Bartlesville, OK, she was a graduate of Bartlesville High School, William Woods College, Fulton, MO, and the University of Missouri at Columbia, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Following graduation, Margaret taught kindergarten in Keokuk, IA, and did clerical work for Phillips Petroleum Co in Bartlesville. In 1949, she married Wallace Collins Odell and moved to MN where she taught kindergarten for several years in Mpls. Margaret was a wonderful mother and enjoyed raising her five children in Wayzata and Minnetonka. Early on, she volunteered as a member of the Abbott Hospital Auxiliary. Later, she worked as a secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was a longtime member. In 1983, she married the love of her life, John Merton Dunnigan. They had 19 very happy years before John died suddenly in 2002. A resident of Edina for many years, Margaret lived at Summit Place in Eden Prairie for the past five years where she made many friends and lived an active life. This past summer, she completed Summit Place's 75-Mile Walking Challenge and was awarded the Certificate of Accomplishment for the Most Improved Distance walked per week, improving from 6.3 to 14.6 miles!! Way to go, Mom!! During her nearly 69 years of membership at her church, Margaret served on session as an elder and was one of the first people trained in the BeFriender Ministry. She helped found the Grief Coalition Group, comprised of downtown churches and was a key member of Westminster's Grief Support Group. Margaret was also a third generation, 72-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Active in Chapter CQ, she served multiple terms as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Chaplain and Guard. And whatever her children or grandchildren were involved in, she was present to cheer them on! Margaret loved gardening, reading, exercising and spending time with family and friends. Memorial service Saturday, November 27 at 2 PM in the sanctuary at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave, Mpls. Reception outdoors, weather permitting. Parking free in the church's underground ramp off 13th St S. Service available via Westminster's Livestream.
