She is survived by many other beloved family members and lifelong friends. Lori was a devoted teacher for much of her life, initially as a 4th grade teacher, then as a preschool Director. For the last 22 years of her career, she served as the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at North Memorial. Lori has always been a bright beacon of light to friends & family everywhere. Her smile simply lit up a room, and she was a magnet for people to be around, due to her incredible positivity and contagious laughter. She was an inclusive, loving friend to many during her lifetime. In 1974, Lori endured the tragic loss of her beloved husband Guy, who drowned in a canoeing accident. She remained a source of strength & perseverance for her three young children, leading by example and being consistently present in their lives. In 1980, she married Rollie Peterson, and their combined families enjoyed many shared holidays and special occasions together. Lori especially loved to ski together as a family in the Colorado Rockies and to host large family dinner parties in her home. She was known for her famous stir-fry dinners! Lori was very active in the Tri Delta Sorority throughout her life. In college, she was the President of the Panhellenic Association on campus and in later years was awarded a National Alumnae Award for her lifetime involvement of 50+ years and leadership in the Minneapolis Alumnae Chapter. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, and was an active volunteer in her children's schools. She developed & nurtured multiple circles of friends which she actively maintained throughout her lifetime. Lori was an incredibly devoted mother and grandmother. She made a point of remembering every birthday, anniversary and special occasion of each family member. She prioritized attending as many sporting events, band concerts, birthday parties, & special events for her grandchildren as possible. She loved teaching her grandchildren about nature, and enjoyed walking with them through different parks or the Arboretum, naming all the wildflowers, trees and birds along the way. She encouraged and loved each member of her family, making everyone feel valued & important. What an incredible legacy of love she created and gifted to us all. After losing her wonderful husband Rollie in 2018, Lori moved into Chaska Heights Senior Living. It was a blessing to have her closer to family and everyone worked together to schedule regular visits, outings and special occasions with her, creating cherished memories during that precious remaining time together. Lori's positive attitude in life and her overwhelming love for faith, family & friends will live on forever.
