Kristine Jean Ryan

Kristine Jean Ryan Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and genuinely amazing friend to everyone she met, died Sunday, March 31st. We are deeply saddened by her sudden death and will forever remember the beacon of light that she was as a person. Kristi was born in Minnesota to her father, James Anderson, and Mother, Diane Anderson, who precede her in death, along with her two siblings Jim Anderson & Lynn Munson. Kristi leaves behind her two children, Hannah and Noah, her grandson, Henry, & two sisters, Susan Tickle, and Karen Zimmer. She also leaves behind many extended family and friends who will miss her immensely. Kristi was one of five siblings, spending her childhood in Edina and Bloomington and at her family's cabin in Northern Minnesota. She enjoyed a tight-knit relationship with all her siblings, and as the youngest, was always tagging along with her older sisters and brother to activities. She was an avid animal lover, taking in many cats and dogs throughout her life. Graduating from Bloomington Highschool, Kristi spent her time on the dance line and leading multiple activities on campus. After high school, she accepted a position at the University of Minnesota, and joined a sorority while on campus. After college, she moved to California briefly and eventually moved back to Minnesota. Starting her career in hospitality, she started her journey at the Olive Garden. Although she would have told you it truly started when she worked at McDonalds in High School, this was her steppingstone into her career. She had her first child, Hannah, in December of 1992. Proceeding her birth, Kristi married her former husband, Jeffrey Ryan, and they had their second child, Noah, in August of 1996. Kristi excelled in her career from there, working as manager and general manager at many restaurants across the Twin Cities, most notably Redstone, Crave Restaurants, Linguini & Bob and many more. Her entire being was deeply instilled in the hospitality industry, and she was widely known as an amazing manager, friend, and "second mom" to her colleagues and friends. Those who knew her describe Kristi as their second mom. She made families everywhere she went, whether it was her staff and friends in each restaurant she worked in, or within her personal life. She took people in, and fiercely supported and advocated for them. She made it a point to make you feel like you were the most important person in the room and supported you to no end when she could. Our hearts break at the sudden loss of her and appreciate the outpouring of love and kindness that has surrounded her death. She will be missed immensely and will live on in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12th at 1:30 PM at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Funeral Chapel; 2610 - 19 Avenue NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418, followed by a celebration of life at one of her favorite places, The Monte Carlo restaurant. - Celebration of life will be held from 3-6pm to remember the amazing mother, sister, and friend she was to all.
