December 12, 1966 - December 23, 2021
On December 23rd, Kim Carden, 55, passed away in her home in St. Louis Park, Minnesota after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer. Kimberly Carden was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Thekla and Roger Johnson on December 12th, 1966. After earning her bachelor's degree in education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Kim had a lengthy career in teaching across the country. More recently, Kim taught kindergarten, nicknamed KinderCarden, at Susan Lindgren Elementary in St. Louis Park. Kim had always loved children and, after marrying Marc Carden in 1998, had two of her own: Culver and Sloan. Kim loved exploring the world with her family as well as cozying in and bringing light to her neighborhood. With a love of exercise, Kim enjoyed yoga and taking walks around town with her dog Posie. Running into her excited students was a highlight of her daily life, and she frequently walked by their homes to say hello. In recent times, Kim had been devotedly taking care of her mother, 'T', and her sister Jen. Kim was kind and compassionate, intelligent and witty, and lived her life with an ambition to help and care for those around her. Kim formed a very large yet tightly-knit network of friends and family wherever she went, taking great pride in being a beloved part of her community. Kim is survived by her mother Thekla, her brother Jeff and his family, her loving husband Marc, and her two children Culver and Sloan. She will be very dearly missed by her family and the many who loved her in every place she roamed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kim's honor are encouraged to the Park Public Schools and Community Foundation. Donations will be used to advance social justice and educational equity throughout the Park school district. Please note 'In memory of Kim Carden' when donating. A memorial service will be held on January 8th at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis MN, 55403. Visitation will begin at 10:30am and the service will begin at 11:00. Physical distancing and the wearing of masks will be required at all times.
