Joan Lou Stenerson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joan (Grigsby) Stenerson Age 89 of Bloomington, MN passed away on May 6, 2022. She is survived by her children Sharon, Sue, Steve and Scott, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lillian, brother Dick, her children's father Wesley, and her good friend Corky. Joan was a talented seamstress, knitter and needlecrafter. She worked at local yarn and fabric shops for many years, and was a loyal member of the Creekside Needleworkers Thursday morning club. She grew up in Minneapolis and Richfield and was a great storyteller of her younger years: attending Washburn High, taking the streetcar to work at IDS in downtown Minneapolis, and eventually marrying and moving to Bloomington. She was an adventurous traveler: by train and car during her youth; at Midwest cabins and campgrounds while raising her children; RVing to CA, AZ and FL; and cruising with friends to Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean in retirement. She was known for her potato salad and Christmas cookies, wonderful knit and crocheted gifts, and the t-shirt memory quilts made for all her grandchildren's graduations.
