    Helen Dolores Faris

    March 24, 1928 - December 25, 2021

    Helen Dolores Faris, 93, died of natural causes on December 25, 2021. Helen leaves behind children Mark & Wife Mary, Chris, Andrew & Wife Stacy and grandchildren Eve, Duncan, Ian, and Trevor. Born March 24, 1928 in New York, New York, Helen was the daughter of Cornelius DeNardis and Cora Secorre. Cornelius and Cora moved Helen and Helen's late sister Beatrice to Barranquilla, Columbia as a young child to oversee a family business. At age seven the family moved back to New York City and lived in Queens. She graduated from high school at fifteen and then attended Queen's College graduating in two years. Following college she pursued a career in finance and later met her future husband, Lynn George Faris, who was in the Navy. They were married in 1955 and lived in Boston, MA as newlyweds where Lynn was completing his Journalism and Broadcasting studies at Boston University. Lynn, a sportscaster for a number of professional and college sports teams and news stations passed away in 1981. Helen throughout her life administered the finances for a number of restaurants in New Orleans, Kansas City, and Minnesota. She later became the CFO for Fine & Associates of Minneapolis and Zycko USA, retiring in 2009. Helen was a member of the Catholic Church at St. Patrick's in Edina, followed by Pax Christi in Eden Prairie, and later Church of St. Edward in Bloomington. Helen had a number of passions including travel, theater, opera, classical music, reading books, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Helen was a terrific loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday Jan. 7th at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel at 5000 W. 50th Street in Edina at 1:00 PM. Memorial services will be held immediately after at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests memorial donations to be made to Macular Degeneration Research at this online link: brightfocus.org/cureAMD We extend our deepest gratitude to all friends and family, Elder Homestead and employees, and those that helped Helen during her final years.
