Gordon Elwood Mickelberg Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gordon (Gordy) Mickelberg of Maple Grove, MN died on July 13, 2022. Preceded in death by parents Lester and Nina Mickelberg, brothers Laddie and Richard Mickelberg and sister Jean Gullickson. Gordy was born on November 16, 1936, in La Crosse, WI. Gordy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years Darlene (Olerud); children, Dan (Sue) Mickelberg, Susan (Mark) Wentworth, David (Shannon) Mickelberg; grandchildren Morgan and Tristan Wentworth; Gabby and Millie Mickelberg; and many loved sister's and brother's in-law, nieces, and nephews. Always proud of his hometown, Gordy was raised in Holmen, WI. Throughout his school years, Gordy was a talented baseball and basketball player, and in later years served as a high school football referee. He loved music and cherished his years participating in various church choirs. His career in the heating and air conditioning industry took the family on life adventures in La Crosse WI, Minneapolis MN, Clarksville and Memphis TN, as well as Chicago IL. Gordy was active in his community, church, and neighborhood. In recent years, he served as president of his Homeowner's Association. Those meeting Gordy for the first time almost instantly became friends as he had the gift of connecting with others. His infectious laugh and kind heart was a welcome addition to any gathering. But most importantly, Gordy cherished his family and was most proud of being a husband to Darlene and being a grandpa to his grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of love and laughter and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Gordy's life will be held on Wednesday August 17th at 11:00 am at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 7401 County Road 101, Maple Grove, MN. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am. Virtual streaming will be available for those unable to attend in person (Livestream the service at https://www.lordoflife.org/celebrationoflife). The family requests that family and friends consider a gift to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, or to a charity of their choice.
