Glen Henry Asmus Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Asmus, Glen H. Age 96, of St. Anthony, died peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on February 12, 2022. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Betty Binkerd); parents, Henry and Byrdie (Johnson) Asmus; brother, Harvey; sister-in-law, Ruth Binkerd; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerome and Evelyn (Binkerd) Coppicus; and niece, Julie (Coppicus) Kepulis. Glen was born on a farm near Rake, Iowa and graduated from Rake High School in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps in England and in France. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree in accounting. Glen became a certified public accountant (CPA) in 1951 and had an accounting practice in the Twin Cities for many years. Throughout his life he was an avid reader who nurtured a love of learning in himself and in others, enriching the lives of those who knew him. He was kind, faithful, and honest; he was a man of integrity. Glen is survived by his daughter, Mary; sister-in-law, Carol Asmus; cousins; nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends. Memorial service will be held 11:00AM Friday June 24th at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave NE Minneapolis with a visitation at 10:00AM and a reception following the service. Memorials preferred to The National WWII Museum (New Orleans, LA), The Nature Conservancy, or to your favorite library.
