Frances Hoppenrath
December 10, 1939 - April 26, 2022
Frances Ann Hoppenrath's journey ended on April 26, 2022 at the age of 82. Devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She loved her friends and family, any kind of card game, she was an avid reader, and enjoyed making others laugh with a silly joke. She met her husband, Richard, at a boat race at Long Lake in New Brighton, MN which then became the norm over the years as she supported him at his races across the Midwest. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March. One of Fran's proudest accomplishments was paying her own way through college at the University of Minnesota while working and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Fran went on to obtain her master's degree from Mankato State. She was a dedicated educator with the Bloomington Public Schools for over 30 years. Fran had an adventurous passion for travel. She and Dick traveled extensively, sharing worldwide experiences as they visited 99 countries...1 short of her goal. Her journeys filled her life with stories to tell. Her courageous spirit allowed her to survive a rare auto-immune disorder, Churg-Strauss Syndrome, during the last 30 years of her journey. To know Fran, even as she suffered, was to witness fierce determination and strength. She was not going to miss her grandchildren growing up or her next planned adventure. Fran is survived by her loving family: Husband Richard; Children Bill (Jackie Spehar) Hoppenrath, Anne (Kevin) Hines; Grandchildren Madeline and Joe Hoppenrath, Kendall Hines. She is also survived by sisters Joan Olson, Margaret (Tom) Barnes along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Frank and Margaret Hill. Gratitude to Cherrywood Advanced Living in Andover, MN along with Allina Hospice for tending to her with love and compassion on the last leg of her journey. Memorials are not preferred, rather we encourage you to put it toward your own journey and visit that 100th country for Fran. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka, MN at 11am, with visitation at 10 am. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington at 2:30 pm.
