Dexter Dee Denniston was born at home on October 27, 1928, in Staples, Minnesota. Died peacefully at home in Bloomington, Minnesota on April 14, 2022. The 9th of 11 siblings. Graduated from Pine River High School in 1946. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a baker and gunner on the USS Higbee DD/DDR-806. Found his way to Minneapolis where he met Virginia Lois Peterson, they married on May 15, 1954. Dexter worked at Taystee Bakery, then becoming employed with Bloomington Schools as a custodian, soon after he received his Chief Engineering license and became a building engineer for the district. Ending his career as head of maintenance at Kennedy High School in 1993. Dexter is survived by his beloved wife Virginia, his children, Jeffrey (Shari) Denniston, Timothy (Marie) Denniston, Charles (Cindy) Denniston, Leslie (Tim) Block, Donovan Denniston, Daniel (Paulette) Denniston. Grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Denniston, Alizabeth (Keegan) McJames, Danielle, (Jacob) Karr, Alison (Thomas) Pichel, Gina Wait, Ashley (Andy) Gronemus, Briana (Spencer) Erickson, Jordan Denniston, Andrew Block, Kevin Block, Cameron Dehne, Rebecca Denniston, Garrett Denniston. Great grandchildren, Calvin and Arthur Denniston, Tierney and Beckett McJames, Ruby and Simon Pichel, Parker Wait, Lily, Jack and Nina Gronemus, Britleigh and Bentley Erickson, Sisters-in-law Norma (James) Denniston, Barbra (Lynn) Denniston. Preceded in death by Father Jefferson, Mother Leslie Mae Denniston, siblings Aaron (Goldie) Denniston, Thelma (Leslie) Bass, Joyce Denniston, Don Denniston, Hope (Durwood) Yager, Helen (Richard) Rotter, Darrell (Charlotte) Denniston, James Denniston, Lynn (Marlene) Denniston. Longtime member of Southview Seventh-day Adventist church where he served many of those years as Head Deacon. Services held on April 19, 2022, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 7625 Chicago Ave. So. Richfield, Minnesota, 55423. Laid to rest April 19, 2022 at Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington, Minnesota. Memorials preferred to National Kidney Foundation, Shriners Hospitals, Caring and Sharing Hands.
