Daniel Bruce Burkhalter With gratitude and love, we celebrate the life of Daniel Bruce Burkhalter. He was a child of God, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Dan lived a life of integrity, faith, love, laughter, and conviction. With him, family came first. From being a loving and devoted husband, patient yet firm father, to a very proud Grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Dan is survived by his wife Paulette, sons Damien, Darrel, Dwight, Domnic, and Tim. Daughter in Laws, Karen, Vicky, Rolanda, Angie and Nicki. Grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Justin, Andrew, Taylor, Blaine, Brayden, Brynn, Payton, Dalton, Kody and Trenton, and Great Grandchildren, Adelyn, Brendon, Cain, Athena, Aiden, Rowan, and Tatum. Dan is preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Ethel, brothers Bud, Tot, Ed and Bill, sister Carol, and son Derrick. Dan was born on October 16th, 1941 to Ernie and Ethel Burkhalter in Tomah Wisconsin. From a young age Dan displayed a remarkable zest for the outdoors and a deep passion for cars. After graduating from Tomah High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic from 1959-1963 where he demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to his country. Following his service, Dan pursued a career in trucking. He hauled freight for 38 years where he went by the CB handle "Gruntly." Outside of his professional life, Dan had a number of hobbies which included gardening, cooking and baking, and going to car shows with any number of the many vehicles he owned over the course of his adult life. None of which were loved quite as much as his beautiful 1954 Chevy 210 Delray. To know Dan was to love him. His presence brought light to everyone's life. His sense of humor was one of the many qualities that set him apart from the rest. Whether a poorly timed joke in front of his Grandchildren to seldom taking a photo without making a face, Dan's infectious grin would leave a whole room smiling. Although we mourn the loss of Dan, we find comfort in the knowledge that his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift us. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain a part of our hearts. Rest in peace Good Lookin, you will be deeply missed. A private interment will be conducted at Fort Snelling on Tuesday September 10th.
