Catherine Virginia Nyberg 5/26/1938-3/28/2022. First Marriage Name: Christner. Maiden Name: Kowalewski. She lived in Brooklyn Center for 40+ years. She was 83 years old. Waiting her arrival in heaven was Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter, Rachel and Athena Martin. Husband, Harlan Nyberg. Parents, Casey and Eugenia. Brothers, Stan and Mitch. Sisters, Judy and Zoe. Boyfriend, Jim (don't worry, it was years after Harley passed away). And other family and friends. Cathy was a vibrant, selfless, knowledgeable, confident, strong willed woman. Supportive and would always put her family first, no matter what! The list of greatness goes on and on and on. She instilled her greatness in every one of her family members and each will carry on her different traits, values, and lessons. She will remain in our memories forever and nothing can replace the emptiness we will feel when we gather for the next family event and she is not there. Cathy was blessed TWICE with having 5 generations alive in her family, herself as the first generation. She found happiness in the simple things. And there will be reminders of the things she taught all of us as we go through our daily lives. She left us in a way that we could have never thought would happen. Opening our eyes to events that occurred, and medical procedures in place, that ultimately led to tragic results. Carelessness, especially to our elderly family members, who cannot recover from mistakes made during their care. Once the dominos start falling, you can't backtrack to pick them back up. Cathy leaves behind strong, independent, and intelligent, children that will follow her lead to be who she was to them, to their families, and carry on her wisdom to each next generation. CHILDREN: Mark, Lynne, Leanne & Patrice. Their spouses Beth, Jeff, & Randy. GRAND CHILDREN & Spouses/Significant Others, Tonya & Jay, Lisa & Jeff, Dan, Kim, Claire, Kyle & Rachel, Elly, Victoria & Eric, Corey & Natasha, & Tyler. (Rachael who was waiting in heaven already) GREAT GRAND CHILDREN & Significant Others: Cassy & Joe, Hannah, Jeffrey, Avery, Connor, McKenna, Avery, Cameron, Janessa, and Kyle's baby boy still baking in the mom oven. (Athena who was waiting in heaven already) GREAT GREAT GRAND CHILDREN: Joshua & Aubrey. As we finally realize this is goodbye, it is not forever, as will be together again when our time is called for us too, to join you. But for now there is a break in all of our hearts that can never be mended. The list of things you did for all of us could go on forever, and your love for your family was undeniable and will be cherished forever. We all had so many things to say to you before you left, and hope you know that you were the beginning of us all.....and we will never forget where this family started and that you were the one who held each one of us up no matter what, why, where, or when we needed you to, and without us even having to tell you, because you always knew. Even though this is a time in life that everyone must face, it is hard, sad, and at times, unbearable, But what makes us smile is that you have gone to a place with endless winning scratch tickets, and having your pups run to you again, and bingo with every number you need to win. And of course, seeing those that you once felt so heartbroken for losing, that went before you. And of course, to keep a closer eye on Harlan because I'm sure he needs that! We will celebrate Cathy's life on May 28th at Cassy and Joe's, where they resided with you, and will soon own, your home for the last 40+ years. We will give thanks to what Cathy has given each of us and tell each other what she meant to us individually.
