Barbara Jean Hanley

October 12, 1943 - March 18, 2022

Hanley, Barbara J. (née Heyman) age 78 of New Brighton passed away March 18, 2022. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Hanley; parents, Charles and Luella "Fran" Heyman; and sister Sandra Berge. Barb is survived by her children, Michael (Janelle) Hanley and Catherine (Eric) Lahti; grandson, Connor Hanley (15); brother Tom (Sandee) Heyman and sister Linda (Dennis) Hardesty; many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Barb attended Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis and went on to Nursing school at General Hospital and University of Minnesota. Barb loved to travel Europe with her husband and their church group. She also traveled quite frequently with her best friend Jan Johnson. Barb retired from her nursing career after 40 years which started at MN General Hospital then Hennepin County Medical Center. After retirement she became more involved in her hobbies - sewing, quilting, gardening, and also very involved with her grandson Connor. Barb will be remembered as a kind generous soul, always thinking of others first. She enjoyed hosting many holiday gatherings for extended family and friends; she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, March 31 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 61 Mississippi St. NE, Fridley, with visitation starting one hour prior.
