Barbara Aman

Aman, Barbara Alice 63, after a long struggle with cancer, died peacefully at home surrounded by husband Bill Easton and their cat, Coco, on August 16, 2011. Barbara was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1948, the only child of Alice and Richard Aman, both deceased. Barbara grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois and graduated from Maine Township High School South in 1966. Barbara received a BA and MAT from Indiana University in 1970 and 1972, where she majored in French and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Following college and graduate school, Barbara joined Continental Bank in Chicago as an admin- istrative assistant in the Africa/ Middle East Division, completed the bank's officer training program, was assigned to the Asia Pacific Division, and obtained her MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. Barbara moved to Minneapolis in 1982 after her marriage to Bill Easton in 1981. She worked for a number of banks in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and obtained her MLS from St. Kate's. She retired from Bremer Bank in June 2009, where she was a Vice President in the Private Client Services Division. Upon retirement, Barbara began pursuing her true love and calling, which was volunteer work with seniors and the library. Barbara was on the Board of Director of Vital Aging Network and Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library. In addition to her volunteer work, Barbara enjoyed tennis, solitude, athletics, and other outdoor activities (particularly biking and skiing), travel, and spending time with her stepsons and grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband and by stepsons Ian (Holli) Easton of Atlanta and Riley Easton of Hilton Head, several cousins, and a blessing of numerous close friends. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on August 29, 2011 at Washburn-McReavy Mortuary, 50th St. & Highway 100 in Edina. Pastor Erik Strand of Edina Community Lutheran Church will offer a memorial service at 6:15 at the mortuary. A celebration of life service will be held at some point in the future. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to the Vital Again Network for the Barbara A. Aman "Evolve Scholarship Fund" in honor of Barbara's life.
