Jane Martinsen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martinsen, Audrey "Jane" 86, of Golden Valley, went to rest in the arms of the Lord on July 29, 2021 surrounded by family. Born Dec. 3, 1934 to Florentine "Tino" & Ellen (Mogren) Monn in St. Paul. Jane graduated from Harding High School, worked at 3M, married her beloved husband George, then dedicated her life to raising their family. Jane loved children and was her grandchildren's biggest fan in all activities--sports, music, arts. Jane brought joyfulness to everything she did and was unmatched in her hospitality. She loved musicals and was always singing, humming, or whistling. Jane was a giver. She spent many hours volunteering for various organizations, teaching Sunday School at St. Margaret Mary Church in Golden Valley, and was very generous with her time and resources. In her leisure, she loved traveling with her family and hosting relatives and friends at the cabin up north. She was a life-long learner, studying the Swedish language and researching genealogy and history. Preceded in death by her husband, George, of 58 years; parents; brothers Carl "Ed" (Peg) Monn, Richard Monn, and Roger Monn. Survived by her five children, Bruce (Julie) Martinsen, Bayfield, WI, Karen (Stephen) Hawkinson, Maple Grove, MN, Diane Martinsen Bach, Crystal, MN, John Martinsen, Maui, HI, Susan (Douglas) Mork, Golden Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Monn; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. Memorial Service will be held August 14th, 2021 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel. 10am visitation, 11am service with luncheon to follow. Private family interment.
