    Arline Marion Rita Hanson

    July 3, 1926 - June 4, 2022

Arline Marion Rita (Pakko) Hanson was born on July 3, 1926 in Virginia, Minnesota to Hilda and John Pakko. She grew up in Mountain Iron, Minnesota, where she met many life long friends, including her best friend, Aune Trygg. Arline graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1944. She went on to attend Virginia Junior College where her major focus was music. She sang at many weddings in her younger days and, also, enjoyed playing the piano. On June 30, 1951, Arline married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Hanson. He always said they were "a team". They welcomed their only child, Nanci, into the world on January 5, 1954. Arline's two grandsons, Aaron and Marc, were always very special to her, and she treasured being a part of their lives. She, also, had many aunts, uncles and cousins that were important to her throughout her earlier and later years. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage. And, Arline definitely had "sisu". She enjoyed reading, especially biographies and autobiographies, and writing letters to keep in touch with family and friends. Arline held numerous jobs throughout her lifetime, some of which included working for an eye doctor, in a jewelry store, in an old fashioned candy store, in an accounting office, at Augsburg College business office, and at Fairview Hospital billing department. She lived in Riverview Tower Condominiums in Minneapolis for almost 50 years (with her many plants!) before moving to Nanci and Larry's for 4 months, and then to an assisted living facility for only 6 weeks. Arline survived congestive heart failure and pneumonia in April and then suffered a stroke in May. She died peacefully on June 4, 2022, with Nanci by her side. By now I can only imagine that Arline has reminisced with her parents and had a few cocktails with Lloydie, who probably said, jingling his keys in his pocket, "Ar, what took you so long?"; she's given Aaron a big hug and told him how much she's missed him and had many cups of coffee-and cookies- with Aune, and they picked up just where they left off. Arline had a heart of gold and was always very thoughtful of others and generous. Her smile, kindness and love will be greatly missed but not forgotten. A memorial service will be held on June 30, 2022 at 11AM at Family of God Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN. Visitation beginning at 10AM.
