Anne Mercedes Tesar

Anne Mercedes (Smyth, Riley) Tesar, a long-time resident of Bloomington, MN entered eternal life on Friday October 6th, 2023 at Rivers of Life in Savage, MN at age 84, surrounded by her husband and children. Celebration of Life will be held on October 18th, 2023 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Bloomington. Visitation is from 10am - 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am with lunch following. Inurnment at 2:15pm at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights. Anne is preceded in death by parents Arthur Smyth, Anne Riley, Edward Riley; son John Tesar; sister Eileen Riley. (Arthur Smyth, Anne's biological father, passed away 3 months before Anne's birth. When Anne was 6 yrs. old, her mother married Edward Riley who adopted Anne.) Anne's memory lives on with her husband of 61 years, Phil, and their children: Cathy (Scott) Ohser, Jean Tesar (Ron King), Elaine (Eric) Johnson, Steve (Susan) Tesar; sister Maureen (Juan) Barrera; brother-in-law Mark Tesar; grandchildren, Erich, Christin and Matthew Ohser; Alec, Kara and Sean Johnson; Lily and Gabby Tesar; nieces Monica, Veronica and Angelica. Anne was born April 20, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY. She spent her early years living in Long Beach, NY, just a few blocks from the ocean. After her mother remarried, she moved to Schenectady, NY where her father worked for General Electric. Before Anne started high school, the family moved to Louisville, KY where G.E.'s Major Appliance operations were based. Family vacations at the beach were Anne's favorite places as she loved the ocean. Anne attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School in Louisville, KY. She attended and graduated from St. Louis University, with a major in Geography and a minor in Elementary Education. She met Phil in St. Louis, MO on a blind date on February 18, 1961. Anne and Phil were married August 18, 1962 in Louisville. They lived in St. Louis for 4 years then moved to Bloomington, MN after Phil had accepted a job offer from Honeywell, Inc. John, Cathy and Jean were born in St. Louis, MO; Elaine and Steven in Bloomington, MN. Anne was an ever-loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. Her family was truly her greatest passion. No matter who you were, Anne was ready to befriend you, no questions asked. The family would like to thank the staff at Rivers of Life and Minnesota Hospice for their loving care of Anne. Memorials to the donor's favorite charity.
