In loving memory of Wilma Sparks Wilma Sparks, a gentle soul and remarkably devoted mother, passed away on June 1, 2026, at the age of 83. Described by everyone who knew her as a genuinely sweet lady, Wilma brought a quiet warmth into the world. She was an avid lover of cross-stitch, creating beautiful, lasting pieces that reflected the care and patience she brought to her daily life. Above all, Wilma's life was defined by her fierce and unwavering devotion to her family. For more than 25 years, she lovingly cared for her daughter, Suzy, who had disabilities. Suzy was the absolute love of her life. Even after Wilma moved to a senior living community, her heart and thoughts remained with Suzy each day. This profound and unbreakable bond will forever remain one of the most cherished parts of her legacy. Wilma's life was a beautiful testament to the depth of a mother's love. Her family had been looking forward to gathering this August for a special four-generation photograph, a celebration of the deep roots and lasting love that meant so much to her. Although that moment was not to be, the bond shared across those generations, including her newest little blessing, remains a beautiful part of her story. Wilma was born in Kingman, Indiana, and spent her childhood in Boonville, Indiana. She later moved to Hammond, Indiana, where she met the love of her life, George Sparks. They were married and lived in various states before making Bloomington, Minnesota, their home. George preceded her in death. In the last two years of her life, Wilma lived in a senior living community in Lilydale, Minnesota. She was also a devoted member of Southtown Baptist Church in Bloomington. Over the years, she worked at Bloomington Public Schools and at Western National, where she was known for her kindness and dedication. She is survived by her daughters, Suzy Sparks and Kristine Mohr (Rob); her grandchildren, Victoria Mohr (Erik Rybak) and Joseph Mohr (Zoë Dieckman); her precious newly born great-grandchild, Layla; and her sisters, Betty and Sharon. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and who will carry her memory forward with gratitude, tenderness, and love. Rest in peace, sweet Wilma. A service will be held on August 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Dawn Valley Chapel and Memorial Park, 9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN 55438. In honor of Wilma's longtime support of individuals with intellectual disabilities, memorial gifts may be made to Special Olympics Minnesota in lieu of flowers.
