William Veazey

Veazey, William W. died unexpectedly May 16, 2008, at his home in Minnetonka, MN at the age of 59. Bill was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Cargill Corporation. He was also an exceptional family man, devoted to his immediate family, his parents and his siblings and their families. A Montana native, Bill was born in Butte, MT, on June 28, 1948, to Tony and Harriet Veazey. He earned a Bachelors degree in Economics and his MBA from the University of Montana. Bill married Kathryn Jean Caras in 1970. Together they raised three exceptional children Katie, Thomas, and Michael. His children were the most important part of his life, even throughout his professional career. Guiding them in all aspects of their lives always came first. Bill began his career with Cargill in Minneapolis in 1975. He held various positions that sent him to Brazil, England, and finally back to Minneapolis where he became CFO in 2005. "During Bill's thirty-three year career, he contributed substantially to Cargill's growth, success, and most importantly to the spirit of the company," said Greg Page, Chairman and CEO of Cargill Inc.. Bill and his family hosted hundreds of appreciative family, colleagues and friends of all ages at their Flathead Lake cabin in Montana. The cabin on Flathead was Bill's second home where everyone was welcome and enjoyed a variety of watersports, campfire stories, hikes, and sunset cruises. Bill's sense of humor and impeccable timing and generosity are legendary and will never be forgotten. Bill's untimely passing leaves many with deep holes in their hearts, but he will always be remembered. He is survived by Kathy, Katie, Thomas, and Michael, his brother Ted (Nancy), and his sister Mary Ann Albee (Bob) and their families. Additionally, Bill is missed by the Caras families, Jim (Donna) and Bill (Laurie). Loving cousins who will also miss him include Gerilyn, Tom (Sarah), and Paul Giel Jr. and their families, the Clark family, the Meaghers, and Gerry Lynn and Bill Gilboe. The memorial service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 50th and Knox Ave South, Minneapolis, 612-926-7651, with visitation one hour prior to service. All who knew and loved Bill are invited to celebrate his life.
