William "Bill" Scarff

Scarff, William Bill Joseph Age 84 of Minnetonka. Bill Scarff passed away peacefully in the early hours of Mar. 27, 2019 with his family at his bedside. He is survived by his wife Erma of 58 years, sons William Jr., Stephen & his wife Ruth, his brother Donald, and many loving friends and relatives. Bill loved God, his family, and his friends deeply. He was a helper (first and for most) and mentor to so many throughout his work and private life. He had a real joy for life and was one of the kindest and most caring people you could ever know. His walk with Christ and his living out the Gospel message was manifest in many ways, not only in his faith communities, including serving as a church elder, singing in the choir, attending BSF, and Unidos en Cristo but in his professional life. Of his passions, Bill's love of music was central to his being and covered a range of musical traditions from performing in the Bach Society to barbershop. His lifetime curiosity in the world around him included traveling the country and beyond. Of the many wonderful family trips to see the treasures of this creation, the salmon fishing trips to Alaska with his sons over the years stood out. He also enjoyed the simple acts of playing catch with them in the front yard and canoeing the Ipswich River. His wife, whom he cherished and his family always knew how much they were loved and cared for by Bill through the multitude of his quiet and thoughtful actions. In his work-life, he spent 30 years with General Electric including their Manufacturing Training Program that brought him to live and work across the nation. Later on he served in other leadership roles that included Telco Systems as Vice President and leading Twin City Testing as President and CEO. In all his various roles and responsibilities, he never lost sight of doing what was right and just and where credit was due for his success. Even in work situations that challenged the ethical standards he lived by, he never bent, remaining faithful and optimistic to his last days. Although his work life revolved around the world of business and finance he professionally identified as a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer. Finally, Bill was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy where he truly got to see the world. In lieu of flowers gifts may be given to: Feed My Starving Children or Sharing and Caring Hands. Two organizations that Bill gave his time to over the years. The service will be at 11am, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Colonial Church, 6200 Colonial Way, Edina, Minnesota. Reception to follow. Internment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
