William John DeGidio, Jr.

William John DeGidio Jr., 39, passed away quickly and unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on June 17, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Will was born to Willam Sr. and Debra (Taylor) DeGidio on August 20th, 1985 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was raised on a beautiful lake in rural Garfield, where he learned to fish, hunt, drive a boat, race dirt bikes, and hobby all things outdoors. He was most in his element when he was cold and wet. After high school Will began working in the automation field for a local engineering company called Aagard. In 2006, he met and began dating Amanda Anderson, who promptly left the country for four months. The pair fell in love over endless prepaid phone card calls and old-fashioned letters. When Amanda returned to the U.S., Will quit his job and moved to the Twin Cities to start a life with his beloved. In 2011, Will and Amanda were separated once more when Amanda joined the Peace Corps. Will, ever one for a challenge, trekked out to a remote village in the middle of the rain forest and proposed. In 2013, the two were married outdoors at the Walker Sculpture Garden. Over that same time Will had been slowly but dutifully furthering his education at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and later Dunwoody College of Technology. In his final year of study, he was recruited by a Swiss engineering firm, Bühler, to work as a Project Engineer at their North American headquarters in Minneapolis. Will took great pride in his work and began a 14-year career, working his way up the ladder to the role of Director of the North American Automation Department. His technical and leadership skills were admired by his colleagues and friends alike. Will and his wife loved to backpack in the Boundary Waters and traveled the world together, frequenting the Caribbean and adventuring to India, the Middle East, and many countries throughout Europe. They welcomed their first daughter Elliot (Elle) in 2017 and VanDetta (Vivie) in 2020. The true joy of Will's life was being a father to his daughters. For them, he was a strong, proud provider who loved to bike, play, roughhouse, take them on the canoe to fish and teach them to use tools, as he renovated their home on the strength of his own labor. He loved to prepare delicious, elaborate meals after which the family took a walk together every evening, rain or shine. He read aloud to the girls their stories before bed each night and never took for granted a second of the special bond he had with his children. Will was a thoughtful, warm, and dedicated husband whose deep love for his family was apparent to everyone who met him. Will was preceded in death by his older brother Donald. He is survived by his wife Amanda and daughters Elle and Vivie, his parents William Sr. and Debra, half siblings Tony, Nick (Nicole), Nina (Mark), and four nephews. He will be dearly missed by all.
