Vivian Elizabeth Doucette

Vivian Elizabeth (Thielman) Doucette passed away at the age of 91 on June 23, 2026 in Richfield, Minnesota. Vivian was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Ralph Thielman and Madelyn (Murray) Thielman on March 15, 1935. She was the oldest of five children. She moved to Minneapolis at an early age, where she attended Incarnation Catholic School and Central High School. She met Lee Doucette at Incarnation, and they both attended Central. They married in 1956. Together, they had two daughters, who they raised on Queen Avenue in Southwest Minneapolis. She and Lee later moved to Edina, where Vivian enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table and watching birds out the front window. Vivian was the type of friend you kept for a lifetime. She collected friendships easily and cared for them with phone calls, coffee dates, and birthday lunches. She also loved her family dearly. Her daughters will remember her for how well she listened to them, asking thoughtful questions and always taking their side. She spent every Tuesday with her grandkids when they were young, showering them with Beanie Babies and helping them with their spelling lessons. Vivian was meticulous and reliable, traits that made her an excellent administrative assistant at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a couple of other jobs over the years. She enjoyed baking, loving to make chocolate chip cookies almost as much as she loved to eat them. She was quick to share her admiration for others, paying emphatic compliments to friends and family alike. She was also quick to share her gratitude; especially in her later years, Vivian was often heard asking, "Oh, what would I do without you?" of anyone who lent her a hand. She was especially grateful for the help of the staff at Village Shores, where she spent her last few months. Vivian will be missed by her children, Cheryl and Ren Doucette, grandchildren Katie (Bailey) Twyman-Metzger and sons Emmy and Darcy, and Matt Twyman and daughter Marilyn, and siblings Tom Thielman, Diane Riegert, and Jan Hagen. She is preceded in death by her brother David. In death, she's reunited with her husband, Lee. Vivian's loved ones will celebrate her life at a private burial.
