Virginia (Peterson) Naros

Naros, Virginia P. (Peterson) Age 81, of Edina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on February 21. Preceded in death by her mother Gladys Holt Peterson, father, Rudolph W. Peterson, brother John O.H. Peterson, M.D., sister "Kaki" Peterson. Survived by her loving and beloved only child, daughter Kristen K. Naros who was the light of her life. Also survived by nephew Holt Peterson (Ann) and nieces Carolyn Peterson, Katheryne Peterson, Amy Hornik (Ben), and Martha Carland; great-nephews Alex and John, and great-nieces Taylor and Elizabeth; cousins John Karlik (Cindy), Chris Karlik and Susie Russell and their children; her precious mare Bella Diva and her new kitten, Lilia. Virginia was a graduate of St. Mary's Hall, the University of Minnesota and earned her R.N. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, later in life earning a Masters in Hospital Administration. Virginia devoted her life to caring for others, as a nurse, as the Associate Director of the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing, as the long time founding Director of Nursing for Minneapolis Children's Hospital, and as the R.N. consultant for numerous group homes for disabled children and adults. Virginia will be remembered as the epitome of a nurse - the most kind, caring, compassionate and selfless person who always put others first and never once complained. She had a special place in her heart and was a lifelong champion for children, the developmentally disabled and others less fortunate. Her devotion and contributions to the profession of nursing are great. She was a true caretaker with a heart of gold, always young at heart with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. She enjoyed sailing, horseback riding, the Minnesota Vikings, a good joke, a great party, and delicious food. Virginia and Kris shared a lifelong love of horses and enjoyed nearly 50 years of owning and showing American Saddlebred Horses, traveling together to compete throughout the country since Kris was a young girl. Virginia was Kris' greatest fan and will continue to cheer her on from heaven. She was the perfect Mother and will be missed every day. Memorial service 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 26 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis. Visitation 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, February 25 at Washburn- McReavy Edina Chapel, 5000 W. 50th St. and Highway 100 and one half-hour before Saturday's service.
