Virginia Ann Gilbert

Virginia (Ginger) was a loving Wife, Mother and "Nana" from Ham Lake, MN. At the age of 92, she peacefully went to be with her Lord on November 27, 2023. Survived by her brother James Lillemo; children, Stephen (Carol) and Bruce (Judy); grandchildren, Geoffrey (Eling), Andrew, Robert (Kristine) and Stephanie Putz, Amanda and Allison Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Wyatt Putz and Hawkin Putz. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ginger was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Gilbert, daughter Lynne Putz and parents Guttorm and Florence Lillemo. Ginger was born in Cass County, Minnesota, then moved to Little Falls, MN, where she lived until graduating from Little Falls High School. Subsequent to graduating high school, Ginger immediately entered Mounds-Midway Nurse's School in St. Paul, MN. She graduated nurse's training in 1952. Upon graduation, she was employed as a Registered Nurse where she met her husband, Douglas Gilbert. They were married in 1953 and eventually settled in Ham Lake, MN in 1966 with their three children. Ginger taught Licensed Practical Nursing at Anoka-Hennepin Vocational Technical School for 22 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending her retirement years with her six grandchildren, and then later, her three great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed gardening and cultivating a large variety of different flowers. Ginger was very actively involved in her church and community, as well as volunteering with various groups. Additionally, she worked as a leader with the girl's club (Pioneer Girls). She also was extremely active in her church in Florida (Starkey Road Baptist) and with her church in Roseville (Rose Hill Alliance Church). Throughout her involvement with her church, Ginger also volunteered with Meals on Wheels by delivering meals to those unable to prepare food for themselves, which continued until 2017. Ginger's pallbearers are her six loving grandchildren: Geoffrey, Andrew, Robert and Stephanie Putz; and Amanda and Allison Gilbert. Funeral service 11AM Friday, December 1, 2023 (visitation begins at 10AM) at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 803 West Larpenteur Avenue, Roseville, MN. Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Samaritan's Purse
