Verna Jean Camerer

Verna "Jean" Lightly Camerer, age 83 of Bloomington, MN went to be with the Lord on April 12th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Austin, MN on May 4th, 1942, to Herbert and Helen (Toyne) Lightly, one of four children. She graduated from Austin High School. Immediately following graduation, she worked at Home Federal as a receptionist. She received Jesus as her Savior at home as a child with her mother leading her in a simple bedtime prayer that she lived out every day of her life. Jean married Roger Camerer on July 25th, 1964. She was a faithful wife who traveled throughout Minnesota as a wife of a forester while living in Benson, MN. She then supported her husband while he attended Bethel Seminary to become a pastor. She served as a pastor's wife in Milaca, MN and Edgewater Baptist Church in South Minneapolis. She was very active working and volunteering at Trout Lake Camps in various capacities. Jean worked as the office manager of Eastlund, Solstad, & Hutchinson Law Firm for many years. She later served as a faithful volunteer at Greenfield Village Community Church in Mesa, AZ for over 30 years where she and Roger spent their winters. Jean overcame many medical crises for many years including cancer, pancreatitis, and kidney failure just to name a few with a spirit of grace and courage while never giving up and showing resilience and utmost strength. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Helen, brothers Paul and Roger Craig, sister Joyce Roberts, sister-in-law Janice Lightly and nephew, Andy Lightly. She is survived by her husband, Roger, of 61 years. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Thank you God for lending us your child. We praise your name. With a smile on her face and peace in her heart, we too have peace. A private family interment occurred at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 24th, with a visitation at 10:00 followed by the service at 11:00 at Berean Baptist Church, 309 County Road 42 in Burnsville, MN.
