Valeta "Val" Jane Pankow January 14, 1934 - December 15, 2021 Valeta "Val" Jane Pankow, age 87, of Blaine, MN, was called home by our Lord God on December 15, 2021. Val was born January 14, 1934 in Red Lake, MN. Val was the 2nd of 10 children (4 died in infancy). She attended residential school as a young child in northern Minnesota and helped her mother take care of her younger siblings. As a young adult Val worked as a housekeeper and eventually moved to Chicago where she worked in a shoe factory. She moved back to Minneapolis where she met Carl Pankow, Sr., they were married on July 24th, 1961 and to this marriage they had seven children (5 sons and 2 daughters). In 1968 Val began her career with Honeywell, until her retirement 30 years later. Val was a devout Catholic who loved to attend Sunday mass, recite the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy daily. Val also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to Relevant Radio, country music, attending concerts, powwows, going out to eat, and she was also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. Val is preceded in death by her husband Carl B. Pankow, Sr., son Curtis Pankow, mother Philomene Martin, brother Sidney Martin, and sister Sharrill Allen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her including her children Brian Pankow, Carl "Ben" Pankow, Jr. (Gabriella), Troy Pankow (Jocylyn), Charles Pankow, Brenda Pankow (partner Paul Schieck), Janelle Pankow (partner Richard Keeney Jr.), and Colleen Martin. Her siblings Sylvia Spence (Jim), Cynthia Martin Loud, and Wayne Martin. Her grandchildren Shelby, Connor, Maxx, Jared, Kalley, Zachary. Gianna, Evan, Delaney, Lauren, Jacob, Lucy, Lyndsey, and Eric. Family member Richard Lingwall, along with other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3rd 2022 from 4-6pm at Washburn McReavy Funeral Chapel, 4101 Central Av NE Columbia Heights, MN 55421, followed by a potluck dinner from 6-9pm at the Mary Ann Young Senior Center, 9150 Central Av NE, Blaine, MN 55434. Funeral service and burial will be held at 10:30am (visitation 9:30am) on Friday, February 4th 2022 at Epiphany Catholic Church 1900 111th Av NW Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Luncheon to follow at the church.
