Timothy D. Marrinan

Marrinan, Timothy D. Age 72 of Edina, passed away January 29, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Marrinan; and sister, Teri Marrinan. Tim was a graduate of St. Thomas Military Academy, the University of Minnesota's undergraduate program and law school. He was a long-time compliance and banking law expert but his true passion was history. He served on the President's Counsel at Colonial Williamsburg for many years and taught students at Our Lady of Grace and St. Thomas Academy about the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Tim served as a board member at the Henry Sheldon Museum in Middlebury, Vermont, where he and his wife Patti also resided. He served on the University of St. Thomas School of Law Organizational Ethics and Compliance Program Advisory Board, where he was instrumental in the Program's inception and development. Throughout his life, Tim supported the Phi Beta Kappa motto, "love of learning is the guide of life." Tim's family brought him the greatest amount of joy and we all benefited from his love and devotion. He blessed everyone he met while performing his roles as a punster and a one-stop shop for all things history, banking, and sports. Tim enjoyed daily morning mass at Our Lady of Grace followed by chats with his coffee klatch. Tim is survived by his devoted and adoring wife of 32 years, Patti Cassady; his daughters, Molly Marrinan, and Cara Marrinan (RJ Van Swol); his sons, Timothy Marrinan, Jr. (Sujata Behera), and Conor Marrinan (Beatriz Marrinan); his non- traditional son, Phil Benedict; grandson, William Marrinan; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be on Friday, February 16 at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Edina from 5-7 pm. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina at 2 pm with a visitation at 1 pm. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
