Thomas A. Velcheck

THOMAS ARNOLD VELCHECK Age 76 of Chaska, Minnesota, passed away on February 16, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital after recent months of continued deteriorating health. His mind and body were tired. Tom, a beloved husband, Dad and Grandpa was born in Thorp, Wisconsin on October 25, 1946 to Arnold and Phyllis (Hastreiter) Velcheck. After graduating high school, Tom went on to earn his accounting degree from St. John's University and then became a CPA. Tom was a skilled athlete and played football for SJU under the leadership of John Gagliardi. After graduation, Tom started his career at Peat Marwick and it was during one of his assignments at McQuay where he met Patricia Wozniak and on June 19, 1971, Tom and Pat were married. Together, they had two children: Jason and Jennifer. Tom was a hard worker, was patient until he wasn't and was a quiet guy. He enjoyed watching football, and snacking on ice cream of any kind, popsicles and popcorn. Tom retired in May of 2013 and while he had big aspirations for lots of travel, he focused primarily on his three grandchildren: Carson, Anna and Connor. He and Pat spent endless hours at soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, and hockey games, not to mention all the school programs, award ceremonies, Gruber (Grandpa Uber) services, or whatever else came up. He always had time for a chat and enjoyed those moments with the kids whether they were big or small. Tom was proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Phyllis and three siblings: Barbara Woods, Sue Fischer and Daniel Velcheck. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Jason (Pam) Velcheck and their son, Carson, of Eden Prairie, MN; a daughter, Jennifer Danicich and her daughter Anna and son Connor of Victoria, MN; Four siblings, Rosemary Velcheck, Arnoldeen Velcheck, Mark (Paulette) Velcheck and Mari Knight. Family and friends are invited to join a memorial service for Tom on Monday, February 27, 2023, 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior at Washburn McReavy, 7625 Mitchell Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Memorials preferred to the charity of your choice. Blessed be the memory of Tom Velcheck.
