Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 10, 2016, age 66. Preceded in death by father Richard, sister Sue and niece Michelle. Lovingly missed by wife Anne (Fashingbauer); children Joshua (Samantha), Annie Miller (Mark), Sam (Amber Hegland); grandchildren Max Miller and Colton Howard; mother Beverly; sisters Kris Canaday (Ed) and Linda Saavedra; aunt Joyce Atchison; nephews Jon Eardley, Kyle & Cory Canaday; nieces Lindsay & Britni Saavedra & Jaclyn McCormack; faithful four-legged friend Mattie, along with many more fun-loving relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Center, for gently guiding us through Tom's last days. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday, June 16 at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home,515 Highway 96 West, Shoreview MN 55126. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, June 17, with visitation beginning at 10 AM at St. Odilia Catholic Church,3495 Victoria St. N, Shoreview 55126. Interment Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lewy Body Dementia Association. How we will miss our Tom, the handsome blond athlete and coach, world's best party host, singer of Elvis and Sinatra and devoted husband, dad, son and brother. He welcomed all guests as though they were lifelong friends, and the dozens of Howard family parties rang out with his voice, whether tending bar, entertaining the neighborhood with fireworks displays and an Elvis impersonator, playing Santa in the freezing Minnesota winter, or dealing an energetic hand of blackjack. He loved his extended family at John Roberts Printing Co. where he so proudly worked for 42 years. He played as hard as he worked, savoring family trips to the shell-filled shores of Sanibel Island, or for gambling excursions in Vegas, where winning never mattered as much as the laughter. Lewy body dementia could not have seized a worse victim, robbing Tom and his family of his charm just as his grandchildren were arriving in this world. As Elvis sang in "Love Me Tender," he made our lives complete, and as Sinatra crooned in "My Way", he lived a life that's full. Every time we hear the King or Old Blue Eyes, we will know who is turning up heaven's stereo.
