Thomas J. Dugan October 27, 1945 - June 19, 2025 Thomas J. Dugan (Pa), age 79, of Coon Rapids, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 26th at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. We will have an informal gathering from 1-2 p.m., followed by a sharing of memories immediately after. Then, to continue to celebrate him, we will head to The Coon Rapids Civic Center, 11155 Robinson Drive for some of Pa's favorite snacks and treats. Interment will take place on a later date at Fort Snelling. Tom was born on October 27, 1945, in Albert Lea, MN to Alice and Jerry Dugan. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1964 and went on to attend Austin Community College and Mankato State University. In April 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his entire stint in Georgia until his honorable discharge in 1970. On September 29, 1973, Tom married the love of his life, Cheryl Petersen, in Albert Lea. After 11 years of marriage and living in several communities, they settled in Coon Rapids, MN, where they raised their family and enjoyed over 40 wonderful years. Tom spent his career in transportation, working in various office roles. His personal life was filled with the things he loved most: fishing, hunting, bowling, and cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. But above all, Tom found his greatest joy in being the proudest supporter of his grandchildren - attending every event and activity with heartfelt pride and joy or as Pa would say, "P and J." Diagnosed with cancer in 2012, Tom beat the odds with eternal optimism, deep faith, and an ununshakeable will to live for his friends and family. His positivity inspired everyone around him. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl; his children: Jason (Kristi) Dugan, Brandon (Rachel) Dugan, Keely (Jeff) Lindgren, and Erin (Geoffrey) Anda; and his treasured grandchildren: Henry, Arthur, and Vivian Dugan; Ros Michalski, Ean and Luc Dugan; John, Aidan, Owen, and Audree Lindgren; Grace, Mahliek, Olivia, and Mariano Anda. He is also survived by his siblings: Linda (Dave) Olson, Peggy (Hank) Moller, and Steve Dugan, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Jerry Dugan, nephew Joe Putrino, niece Dana Schultz, and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tom had a generous heart and was known for bringing sweet treats and sincere kindness wherever he went - whether to family, nurses, doctors, dentists, or mechanics. He leaves behind a trail of smiles - and probably a few extra pounds! We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, Minnesota Oncology, the staff of 5 East at Mercy Hospital, and the St. Cloud VA for their love and support throughout Tom's journey. Tom "Pa" will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. Even though you'd never catch Tom feeling blue, you'd almost always catch him wearing it. So, in honor of him, feel free to wear blue if you'd like.
