Theresa Dolores Burtson

Theresa "Terry" Dolores Burtson, Age 81, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. She was the daughter of Leander 'Lee' Charboneau and Louise Theresa (La Doux) Charboneau of Waubun, Minnesota. Mrs. Burtson attended the Minnesota School of Business. For 45 years, she was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and community. She was a proud North Minneapolis resident and loved reminiscing on the old days in the Camden neighborhood. Mrs. Burtson was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on January 22, 1944. Terry was a self-effacing, conscientious, loving mother of four children, with five grandchildren. Despite some sorrows she faced in this life, as well as chronic health issues, you never found her frowning. She lived in hope and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a true testament to living Christ's love; never envious, always kind, never counting wrongs. She was always forgiving and always ready with open arms for hugs, and if you liked cats, you just might become best friends. She believed in the best in everyone. She enjoyed shopping, coffee, and laughing. Even though she never had much in the way of money, she always wanted to help and was generous even with what little she had. Theresa will be remembered for her positivity, kindness, work ethic, down-to-earth practicality, humility, caring, gentleness, and compassion for others, including her great love of cats! (The cat love really can't be expressed enough!) Theresa was very proud of her family. Her father, Leander 'Lee' Charboneau, also known as "The Ace," is an inspiration to her daughters to this day, and he was also her best friend until the day he passed. In his last words, he asked about her. He was probably where she learned to be so happy and hopeful! He could fix cars like no one's business and was a very stand-up chap and all-around totally cool guy. Her mother, she never forgot about either; her beautiful mother Louise was a gentle, but strong Irish mother of 9. Louise also exemplified grace, perseverance, and trust in God that Theresa modeled in her life, too. Mrs. Burtson ("Terry") was preceded in death by her parents, Leander and Louise Charboneau, brother Benedict Charboneau, beloved son, Ritchie Dean Burtson of Minneapolis in 1988, ex-husband, Aldean Burtson, and brother Robert Charboneau of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is survived by her brother Tom Charboneau of Waubun, Minnesota, sister Mary 'Bibs' Holtman of Redwing, MN, sister Susanetta Rasinski of Fridley, Minnesota, sister Nancy Grams, sister Bonnie Charboneau, and by her "cool" brother Danny Charboneau. She is also survived by the love of her life, her beloved best friend and life partner, Lester Lerfald of Minneapolis, MN. He is the father of her daughters, whom she loved unconditionally and who all brought her much joy in life: beloved daughter Stephanie Burtson of Minneapolis, MN, beloved daughter Jessica Krans of Minneapolis, MN, and beloved daughter Heidi Burtson of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by son-in-law and friend to Terry, Brian Krans of Minneapolis, and her beloved grandchildren, Lucian Burtson of Minneapolis, MN, Aurelie Burtson of Minneapolis, MN, as well as Felix, Neko, and Sunny Krans of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Special mention goes out to her beloved niece and all-around great Lady Tammy Rasinski, who was there for Theresa at her bedside and loved her so much. A special thank you for being a friend and comfort, along with your Mom, Susanetta Rasinski. Theresa will be greatly missed by family and friends, and her spirit will live on through those who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten. Thank you to those friends, family, and caregivers who watched over her these past several years. Private family service and burial at Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Funeral Chapel and Cemetery on July 11th at 11am.
