Terri Quaill Hauge

Terri Hauge, 68 years old, of Excelsior MN passed away the morning of April 23rd. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 4th, 1955, as the youngest of four children (Betts, Tim, Susan and Terri). She is predeceased by her parents (Jean and Al Quaill) and her sister and brother-in-law (Betts and Skip Rice). She is survived by her three daughters, Brook (Morgan), Sara (Andy) and Brianna (Christa) along with her two beloved grandsons Rory and Kai. Upon the death of her parents, Terri moved at the young age of 12 to Excelsior, MN to live with her eldest sister Betts and family. Terri joined the Rice family as the eldest in age amongst the Rice children; Jim, Robin, Kellie and Chris. She attended Minnetonka school district where she had a large group of friends throughout middle and high school. Many of whom she remained connected to for decades. In a tragic car accident during her Senior year of High School, Terri and the Rice children lost their parents. After the passing of Betts and Skip, Terri stepped in as co-guardian, in a valiant effort to keep all the children together and allow them to stay together in the family home. She came to this decision after drawing on her own experience of being uprooted from her life and her home in Pittsburgh at such a young age following the deaths of her parents. In time Terri and the Rice's began finding partners and having children of their own. The new generation began raising all of the many kids as "cousins", forming an incredibly strong connected bond between all the families. Terri met Tim Hauge during high school, they married (later divorced) and had three girls, whom Terri always referred to as her "3 Angels". She loved being a Mother. Terri remained in Minnesota until after Brianna graduated High School. She then returned to her roots in Pittsburgh for a period before accepting jobs that took her to Wisconsin, Tennessee and then finally to North Carolina, where she lived for several years before returning back Home to Minnesota in the summer of 2022. Her "3 Angels" made the decision, along with Terri, to get her moved back up to Minnesota to be alongside her family as her health was beginning to decline. This was a long overdue homecoming and her family is grateful to have had the chance to reconnect with her before her passing. She settled into her new home in Hopkins, for her first winter back in Minnesota. A season she was not looking forward to after living in the South for the past few years. However, she was glad to have the company of all of her family members around to take her on fun coffee dates to Beanhaven, hold her grandson, lunches with the girls and to simply to reconnect with everyone. It brought Terri great joy being the "matriarch" of her family, in the early days as evidenced by family bonfires, birthday parties, dinners, days by the pool, and special Christmas Eve's hosted in her home. She was happiest when everyone was together with crockpots, chips and dip, something in the oven and lots of laughs among the children and the adults. A later version of Terri saw her become a Grandma; Nana as she was called, something she had been very much looking forward to. She welcomed her first grandchild, Rory in September 2022 (Sara's son) and her second grandchild, Kai in January 2023 (Brook's son). She was able to meet and get to know Rory in the months before her passing and she deeply looked forward to Kai's spring trip to MN to meet his Nana. Terri suffered many complicated health issues throughout her life that contributed to us losing her young, however we choose to remember her fondly and hold onto the lessons she taught us all. As a key pillar of our family, Terri lives on within the fabric of all of us. Her deep sense of family bond and loyalty is was what made our family so closely connected over the years. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Services will be at Washburn-McReavy in Hopkins MN, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN 55343 on Friday May 19, 2023 at 2pm with visitation beginning at 1pm.
