Sydney Michele Galleger

Sydney Michele Galleger, 17, of Eden Prairie, passed away Monday June 15, 2015. Sydney was born January 18, 1998 in Dallas, TX, to Steve and Diane (McDevitt) Galleger. In May 2005, Sydney’s family moved to Eden Prairie. She had just completed her junior year at Eden Prairie High School and was looking forward to her senior year and visiting colleges over the summer. At Eden Prairie High School, Sydney lettered 2 years in Synchronized swimming, 3 years in Alpine skiing and 4 years in Diving and she was voted Captain of the Dive team for her senior year. She was a member of DECA and the Westlakes chapter of the National Charity League where she served as class president last year. Sydney loved SnapChat, taking pictures, listening to all kinds of music, eating at Crumb, Punch and Noodles, tanning, jumping on the trampoline, going on random adventures, and most of all, BajaBlasts. She enjoyed driving ‘Libby’ (her Jeep), jet skiing, doing ‘ab workouts’, diving, making pancakes, curling her hair, getting her nails done and laughing with friends! Left to honor Sydney’s life and will forever miss her presence are her parents Diane and Steve Galleger, brother Jack, grandparents Joyce and Bill McDevitt and Avis and John (Jack) Galleger and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sister Amanda Morgan and cousin David Scott Galleger preceded her in death. Visitation is scheduled Friday, June 19 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church at 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 11:11am (note: there is a special significance to the family for this time) also at St. Andrews with a lunch to follow. Pastor David Lillejord will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sydney’s life. Her favorite color is baby blue so the Galleger family would love to see a sea of blue during the service. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up in Sydney’s name for Diving and Alpine Skiing through Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS). Donations to FEPS can be made online at www.foundationforepschools.org. Checks can be made out to the Foundation and mailed to 8100 School Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Alternatively, you may also donate to The University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Sydney’s name. A private family internment will be held Saturday afternoon.
