Suzette Marie Olive

Suzette, 60, peacefully left her home the morning of August 27th holding husband Donn Wiski's hand as she set out for the next part of her journey. She used her unusual strength and resolve to beat back leukemia, but ultimately lost that brave battle with characteristic grace and dignity. Suzette was born in St. Paul, Minn., in 1948 to Milan and Jeanette (Choiniere) Olive. She grew up in St. Peter's parish in Richfield. Holy Angels and the University of Minnesota provided her formal education. Suzette and Donn have been a devoted couple for 30 years and were married in 1986. She built her highly successful career on her caring and direct connecting skills, engaging people and finding innovative, workable solutions. She was a founder and owner of Resolution Inc., a planning and technology consulting firm. She also founded CrewCheck, a web based, worldwide evaluation management service. After family and friends, cooking and golf were passions. Suzette's home centered around the kitchen where she teased a continuous and entertaining stream of delicacies from even the most mundane of ingredients. Tantalizing aromas were ever present except during her extended golf journeys. Her zeal for golfing with friends evolved into a commitment to improving golf opportunities for women and enhancing Dellwood Hills. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette, and is survived by her spouse, Donn; father Milan (Dorothy); brothers Randolph (Cindy) and Peter (Karen) and her devoted sister, Jeanne. Suzette's son, John Bates (Shannon) and three grandchildren (Jimmy, Nicki, and Samantha) visited from California in mid-August to her absolute delight. She is also survived by her stepson Bret Wiski (fiancée Angela Sewald), stepdaughter Allison Wiski and grandson Rhys. Suzette's choice to hold a celebration of a lifetime with 150 friends and family at Dellwood on August 6 illuminates her special qualities. The party provided a way for all who attended to renew and review their special bonds and experiences with her. To those who were unable to renew their connection, we know you were there in spirit as well. This joyous event will be part of Suzette's legacy, and it was her wish to hold a "party of a lifetime" in lieu of a funeral. Commitment service will be private. Suzette had the magic of connecting with friends, acquaintances and even adversaries. A fitting memorial and remembrance to Suzette is for all who knew her to nurture their connections with others, as she so famously did. Thanks, Suze, for embracing us in your journey.
