Susan Janel Taylor

Susan Janel (Hofius) Taylor passed away May 1st 2016 in Minneapolis, MN with her husband Art by her side. Sue was born in Owatonna MN January 3rd, 1944 to Orville Hofius and Helen Clara Mae (Arndt) Hofius. She grew up in Princeton MN and graduated from Princeton High School in 1962. On July 20th, 1962, she married the love of her life Arthur Roger Taylor, they were married 54 years. In 1967 Art and Sue moved their family to Newell IA, where they raised four boys together. Sue was an active member of every community she lived in. While living in Fonda, IA, she was an EMT and a founding member of the Fonda Iowa Ambulance crew. Sue and Art owned The Flyers Inn, a restaurant they proudly named after the local high school, and the Park View Drive Inn. After moving back to Newell, they became owners of Sue’s Corner Store and once again she joined the ambulance crew and she progressed to an EMT-D, something she was very proud of. After their children graduated, Sue moved on to a new stage of her life as an apartment manager, first in Omaha, then in Minnesota where she first met Art. Her most recent job was the city clerk for the city of Quamba, her final home town. She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Helen, father and mother in law Arthur and Lillie Taylor, brother in law Wallace Taylor, sister in law Hazel Griffith and her husband Jim, sister in law Wanda Drzycimski and her husband Kenneth, sister in law Florence Sigersma and husband Loren, brother’s in law Fred Palaschak, Lonnie Leonard, Robert Worden, sister in law Patricia Hofius, niece Danette Prichard and nephew’s Danny Palaschak and Greg Drzycimski. She is survived by husband Arthur Taylor and her four sons Michael (Suzanne) Taylor of St. Francis, Jeff Taylor (Alicia Williams) of New Hope, Troy (Sara) Taylor of Crystal, and Shawn (Diane) Taylor of Shakopee. She is also survived by grandchildren Neil Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Serenity Taylor, Amanda (Joe) Bruski, Spenser Taylor (Jackie Perschbacher), Catherine (Brett) Norsten, Alicia Loiacono, Jamison Taylor, Sura Taylor, and Malcolm Taylor, sister Nancy Worden, brother Neal (Julie) Hofius, brother Curt Hofius (Lynn Simon), sister’s in law Alpharetta Palaschak, Colleen Leonard, Jacque (Bruce) Vatne, and Phyllis Taylor, along with five great-grand children and dozens of nieces and nephews all of whom she loved very much. Sue was passionate about fishing, her crafts, and a good sale. She was with us 72 years – She is loved and will be missed forever. Traditional Visitation will take place Friday, May 6th, 2016 from 4:00PM--8:00PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. 763-767-1000 The Memorial Service will take place the following day at 3:00 PM with visitation one hour prior, again at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel. Following the service, the family would appreciate everyone to join them for more fellowship and lunch at the American Legion (11640 Crooked Lake Blvd NW, Coon Rapids).
