Susan Kay (Eaton) Sood, 66, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was born on April 12, 1959, in Standish, Michigan. Susan grew up in Michigan, where she spent carefree days at her family's lake cottage, laughing with cousins and making memories with friends who would remain close throughout her life. Those early years, full of sunshine, water, and companionship, shaped her love of family and the simple joys of togetherness. She attended Ferris State University, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Gerald (Jerry) Sood. After college, they moved to Minnesota and built a beautiful life filled with deep friendships, community, and the family that meant everything to her. She and Jerry have been members of The Well United Methodist Church in Rosemount, Minnesota for the last 40 years where they grew in their faith and found fellowship and friendship to last a lifetime. Susan was the kindest and most generous soul. Someone who made the world gentler just by being in it. She gave freely of her time and heart, volunteering at church and in her children's schools, always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile, or a lovingly baked casserole or pan of bars. She cherished adventures with Jerry and their dear friends, whether near or far, the joy was always in the company. Susan raised her children to be strong, thoughtful, and deeply compassionate, a legacy of love and character that lives on in them. Becoming a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and she doted on her grandchildren endlessly, delighting in every giggle, milestone, and hug. Her love for her pets ran deep, second only to the love she had for her children and grandchildren, and they returned that affection with unwavering devotion. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Douglas and Lillian Eaton, along with several cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Sood; her children Brandon (Alyson) Sood of Almelund, Minnesota, Megan (Justin) Gross of Dubuque, Iowa, and Erick (Kelly) Sood of Fridley, Minnesota; and her treasured grandchildren: Oliver, Adalynn, Owen, Onyx, Illyana, Freyja, and Lily, her brothers Gregory (Theresa) Eaton and John (Cindy) Eaton. Each of them carries a piece of her kindness, her strength, and her deep and steady love. A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Thursday, July 24th at The Well United Methodist Church in Rosemount, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Susan are welcome to attend and share in remembering the joy, grace, and unwavering love she brought to the world. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
