Susan Ann Beck

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan A. Beck on July 22, 2026 at the age of 75. Preceded in death by her mother June Rassat, stepfather Milton Rassat, and sisters Lynette Rose and Darlene Makinen. She is survived by her loving husband, David; three children - Brianna (Ron) Bullens, Brandon (Catherine) Beck, and Brooke Beck (Eric Johnson); great niece, whom she and David raised, Sierra Makinen; granddaughters - Lynnea Johnson, Toria Johnson, and Bailey Beck; sister Vicky (Jeff) Sabraski and brother Randy Rassat. Although born in Glencoe, MN, Susan was raised in and remained a lifelong resident of North Minneapolis. Susan attended Willard, Ascension, and Hawthorne elementary schools and later North High School. It was in second grade when Susan briefly attended Ascension that she - then unknowingly - crossed paths with the man who would become her best friend and the love of her life, David...whom she always affectionately referred to as "My David." They were reunited and started dating at the age of 17. As teenagers, David once arrogantly declared that he was going to marry Susan one day. And indeed, he did. Married at the age of 21, they enjoyed almost 54 years of marriage in their 58 years together. Reflecting on their early married life, Susan would often joke that she and David lived on their love and cinnamon toast. She kept busy with a lively social life that included drum corps, bowling league, and cards on Saturday night. As a young mother, Susan was active at St. Austin's School and Church, volunteering at school activities, helping to run the church Octoberfest, and acting as the playground monitor - where she always had a whistle, but rarely had a voice. Susan's greatest joy was her family. As she raised her children, Susan was a proud baseball and dance mom. She was often seen in the stands supporting her son as part of the Robbinsdale Little League Program. And she spent far more time than she probably wanted to cheering on all three of her children at dance studio recitals, competitions, and high school dance team events. And later on, she embraced the role of cheerleader again as she supported her great niece and grandchildren in their activities. Susan was a talented artist, an avid reader, and a lover of history. She was fascinated with her ancestry and had a not-so-secret desire to be Scottish. Susan was a doting dog mom, she showed love through baked goods (specifically her frosted sugar cookies!), and believed in the magic of Christmas. She was quick with a funny or sarcastic comment, could always be counted on to engage in a little gossip, and frequently had a mischievous sparkle in her big blue eyes. Beloved wife, loving mother and grandmother, and devoted aunt and sister...Susan will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
