Steven Dale Wanninger

Steven Dale Wanninger, age 70, of Victoria, MN passed away from cancer peacefully Saturday, May 9th, 2026, with loved ones at his side. Steve was born Monday, July 11th, 1955, to Dale and Marcia (Hanson) Wanninger and grew up in Chanhassen, MN. He graduated from Chaska High School and went on to study at Normandale and Hennepin Technical Colleges. Steve married Barbara Isaacson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chaska. Steve is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Nichole (Ross) Kragness, Tiffany (Randy) Johnson, and grandchildren Drew Kragness, Alex and Lauren Johnson. He built a career in global logistics, beginning at Drag Specialties-Custom Motorcycles, to MTS Systems-Research and Development, before medically retiring from Jonaco. Steve was a man of honor who earned the respect of all who knew him. He was a lifelong seeker of knowledge, reading hundreds of novels throughout his life. His adventures carried him across Europe, where he enjoyed its rich history - walking Hadrian's Wall, visiting the Tower of London, Château de Versailles, celebrating his 40th anniversary visiting the Eiffel Tower, and traveling through Belgium, Germany's Black Forest, and Amsterdam. He loved riding his custom Harley Davidson motorcycle, downhill skiing with his family, and was a certified scuba diver. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing, leading a sled dog team, and spirited paintball matches against friends on the SWAT team. A talented musician, he was the steady pulse on bass guitar in several rock bands and loved attending concerts. Above all, Steve's greatest pride was his family. Barbara, his wife, lover, and best friend of nearly 50 years, was his devoted companion. Together they enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a loving father to his daughters, coaching softball and supporting national dance competitions across the US. He was a proud grandfather to three fabulous grandchildren and a devoted fan at soccer games, football games, and track meets. His life was a testament to resilience and gratitude. After courageously battling and recovering from ministrokes, collapsed lungs, and COVID, he became a beacon of strength and hope. He also became an avid Pokémon player. Steve will be remembered for his wisdom, integrity, courage, and unwavering love for family and friends.
