Steven Richard Townsend

Steven Richard Townsend, 47, of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away suddenly May 15th, 2025. Steven was born in Robbinsdale, MN, Aug 1, 1977. He graduated from Robbinsdale-Cooper HS, 1995. Steven worked for many years in the carpet and tile industry, and later became the warehouse manager. At his passing, he worked at the Post office as a PTF, (Mail Carrier). Steven was generous and kind and always ready to help others; From orchestrating the Meyer Family Picnic, to family taco nights, fostering a puppy displaced by hurricane Katrina, and most recently, helping other PTFs who were struggling with their routes. Steve was widely known for his love of gaming and movies. He thoroughly enjoyed introducing people to new games and was patient in teaching them. Steve started off volunteering at Geek Partnership Society, (GPS), a local non-profit, with their gaming club and eventually became a member of their board of directors. Steve strongly supported enrichment for kids and GPS sending kids to Space Camp, as well as other groups that promote STEM education. His love of movies was unparalleled. He would often rewatch a classic at home or take in a double-feature at the theater on the weekend. Steve was also known for his love of food. He not only enjoyed trying out new foods and flavors, but loved taking people to newly discovered places so that they could enjoy it as well. Steven was preceded in death by grandparents, Ernest L. Meyer and Janice (Johnston) Townsend and uncles Bret L., Clinton C., and Douglas R. Townsend. He is survived by his partner of 14 years, Sharon Serreyn, mother Rosemarie Meyer (William Harm), father Glen Townsend (Margurette Marques-Townsend), grandparents Jane (Heys) Meyer and Clinton R. Townsend, sister, Jennifer Townsend and her mother Gwendoyln (Griffith) Townsend, brother Jonathan Harm (Sara Kowski), sister Melinda Allivato (David) and nephew Michael, uncle Ernest A. Meyer (Elizabeth). Steven will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Townsend Memorial at Geek Partnership Society at geekpartnership.org Donations will be placed towards the Youth Space Camp Program and Project Lighthouse. Celebration of Life will occur Tuesday, May 27th from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven chapel at 5125 W Broadway, Crystal MN. Memory sharing will start around noon. Interment to follow at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The service will also be Livestreamed starting at 11 and can be found under the photos and videos tab.
