Steven Alan Kohler

Steven "Steve" Alan Kohler, 62, of New Hope, MN, passed away on April 29, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1961, in Tyler, MN. He was the third sibling of eight. He enjoyed his siblings and growing up on the farm. There was always plenty to do with chores on the farm of milking cows, feeding the animals, strawing the stalls, and baling hay to name a few. After chores, he enjoyed having siblings, cousins, and friends to play games with. Steve loved riding bike, playing baseball, football, basketball, and card games. Some of his greatest joys of growing up was fishing and deer hunting with his Grandpa Charlie Kerkaert and playing cards with both him and his Grandma Rosie Kerkaert pretty much every Friday night when they would come over. He loved Grandma Clara Kohler's cooking and baking of special food and her telling great stories. Celebrating Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with his family and cousins was always a special time. Steve was a beloved man known for his soft heart and unwavering love for everyone he met. A dedicated and hardworking individual, he approached life with patience and perseverance. He cherished his daughters, Berekit and Ashley, deeply. In his 18-year tenure with the National Guard (honorably discharged) Steve demonstrated commitment and loyalty in serving his country. He was a proud veteran who exemplified strength and honor in all aspects of his life. Steve was a spiritual man who had prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2006. He loved the Lord and read his bible daily. Steve was a graduate of Tyler High School in Tyler, MN, where he was an A student, 3 sport athlete- where he excelled as well, and was homecoming king. He graduated cum Laude with degrees in math and chemistry from Southwest State University in Marshall, MN in 1983. He valued education and continuous learning. His career as an Assistant Manager at Burger King, and later as a tax professional for the Tax Shop in St. Louis Park, MN for many years up until he passed away showcased his leadership skills and dedication to work. Outside of professional life, Steve found joy in connecting with others and playing cards. His friendly nature and love for socializing left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Steve is survived by his daughters Ashley Campbell (Germany), and Berekit Kohler (New Hope), His partner Fathya Abdullah (New Hope), his brothers Darwin Kohler (Lori Larimer), Gregory Kohler (Teresa), Jason Kohler (Anne Marie), his sisters Patricia Erickson (Keith), Tamara Thompson (Richard), Karen Kohler-Nelsen (Stephen) and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Leo and Alice Kohler, brother Jeffrey Kohler, and nephew Zachary Thompson. The team at Washburn-McReavy in Crystal, MN is assisting with the arrangements for Steve's funeral services. Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
