Stanley Lester Lehman

Was born November 28, 1933 in Buffalo County, Wisconsin in a farm house in Alma, Wisconsin. He attended the Herald School until the family moved to Mondovi, Wisconsin on a larger farm. There he graduated from East Pepin Grade School. In 1951 he graduated from Mondovi High School. Stan was active in basketball, baseball, and was a member of the National Honor Society in his junior year. He also participated in debate and was class president for two years. Living on a farm five miles from town made it necessary to hitchhike and walk to school and confirmation classes quite frequently. After graduating from high school in 1951, Stan enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in education and science. Stan graduated in 1955 at the age of 21. He participated in basketball, baseball and a number of extracurricular activities. In 1954, Stan married Phyllis Fox of Durand, Wisconsin. They lived on the college campus in his final year of college. While Stan was trained to be a vocational-agriculture teacher or co-agent, he decided to enter the agriculture business world. He was employed June 1, 1955 at Midland Cooperatives in Minneapolis. He started his career on the order desk of the feed, seed, and fertilizer department at the Ag Supply Cooperative. During his cooperative employment at Midland and Cenex for more than 30 years, Stan was instrumental in originating the retail farm call programs such as Midland Ration Advisors, Midland Field Agronomists and the Cenex Feed & Seed Consultants. In addition, Stan was a board member of the American Feed Manufacturers and Central Farmer Fertilizer Company. He soon was promoted to an Agronomy Feed Sales Rep and then to Sales Manager. He moved up the ladder as a Regional Manager, Vice President of the Feed Department, then Agronomy Department and all the way to the Executive Vice President of the company, which was a Fortune 500 company in the U.S. As cooperative mergers took place, he was then a Vice President of Feed & Seed at Cenex. After early retirement he worked part time for other farm supply companies. Stan held several offices in his churches and was active in the Midland (KIT) Retirement Club. He counted gardening and fishing as his favorite interests; and we can't forget the Green Bay Packers! He and his wife Phyllis were very proud of their five children, Mike (Christine), Steve (Jeanette), Bill (Kim), Tim, and Molly (Dave) Chlebeck and nine grandchildren, Andy (Malia), Danny (Amanda), Kristi, Lindsey, Joey, Jon, Jacki, Jason, Benjamin and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Lincoln Stanley. His family meant everything to him. Memorial service 11AM Wednesday, October 30 at INCARNATION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4880 Hodgson Road, Shoreview with a gathering beginning at 10AM.
