Shirley L. Seid

Our dearly loved Shirley Seid (Pickett) passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on July 10th, 2025. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Clara Pickett, husband Larry, brother Wayne, niece Sharon and husband, Robert, and nephew Bill and wife, Shelly. Shirley is survived by her loving daughter Sue (Alexandria) Skinner, grandson, Cooper, sister-in-law Helyn Pickett, niece Kathy (Bill) Judnick & nephews, Al (Kim) Pickett, Steve (Heather) and Keith (Kim), as well as many cousins and friends. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Thursday, July 24th at 11:00 at Prince of Peace Church in Brooklyn Park with a visitation one hour before the service and a lunch to follow. An interment will be done at a later date. Any memorial gifts received will be used to purchase a plaque in honor of Shirley to be placed at the Minnesota Arboretum, a place she loved or to the Brooklyn Park Lady Lions, an organization she proudly served for 62 years. Shirley was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania and adopted by parents who raised her in Duluth, Minnesota. She moved to Minneapolis after high school graduation. She worked in some factory jobs before getting a job waitressing at the Minneapolis Dayton's Sky Room where she was chosen to waitress for the Dayton directors. She worked at a few other jobs and then worked for the Board of Pensions for over 21 years until she retired at age 79. Shirley married Ray Skinner in 1953 and they had one child Sue. She loved her daughter unconditionally and they had a special bond. She was a wonderful mother teaching Sue valuable lessons about kindness, strength, courage and love. She married Larry Seid who passed away in 1979. Shirley was a proud member of the Brooklyn Park Lady Lions for 62 years working tirelessly to help others who were less fortunate. She also was a member of the Legion and Eagles Club. Shirley loved spending times with friends who she traveled with and shared many good times and adventures. Shirley became a grandma much later in life and her heart was full of love for her grandson Cooper. Shirley will remain forever in our hearts and be missed dearly by family and friends.
