Sharon McDonald-Nigro

Sharon J. McDonald-Nigro, age 52; died peacefully November 29, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer while surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. Sharon was born on July 10, 1970, in Madison, Wisconsin to Francis J. and Joan M. (Duerst) McDonald. She graduated from La Follette High School in 1988. After high school Sharon served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the 1st Gulf War (Desert Storm). After her service she lived and worked as a Respiratory Therapist in Washington, D.C. Wanting to be closer to her family in Wisconsin, Sharon moved to Appleton, WI in 1998. She loved the city, neighbors, and playing in tennis league. In 2004, Sharon moved to Minneapolis, MN and shortly after started working as a consultant for Nordic Systems. Sharon loved and excelled in her role of implementing the Epic Systems software for various hospitals around the country. Her work travels took her to both coasts and a fond stint consulting in Honolulu, Hawaii where she learned to surf, loved the culture, and the people she worked with. Survived by her husband Mark Nigro, children Nolan Creese, Meghan Creese, Paxton Creese, Roman Nigro and stepchildren Geno Nigro and Nicole Nigro. Her mother Joan McDonald Klein, stepfather Edward Klein, brothers Gregg McDonald, and Thomas McDonald (Melissa), sister Susan Seithamer (Robert). She is also survived by nephews, Andy (Ellen), Ryan, Lane (Shannon), and Bryce, great-nephew Greyson and great-niece Rylie. And many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Francis J. McDonald. The funeral will be held on Monday, December 12th at Washburn - McReavy Funeral Home, Bloomington Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431. Visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. A luncheon will be served at the funeral home following the service. Sharon will be missed by all who knew her. Her father Francis McDonald nicknamed her "dynamite" as a child. She led a life full of adventure, travel, and socializing with family and friends. She was always joyful and full of spirit, loved the holidays and the community of hockey families. Sharon was most proud of her children and cherished the times spent with her beloved husband Mark and the children. Her happiest times in recent years were spent camping and boating on Lake Chetac. A celebration of life event, held in Madison, WI; will be announced in the Spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
