Sarah "Sandy" Lehrman

Sarah Lehrman, age 92, of Golden Valley, died peacefully of complications related to lung cancer. Sandy was a wonderfully loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was an energizer bunny, always up for an adventure with a hearty laugh. She was preceded in death by husband Morris (“Moish”); parents Harry and Jenny Sobo; sisters Rosie Horovitz, Ida Johnson, Florence Schneider, Pearl Solle and brother Dave Sobo. She is survived by daughters Nancy (Lester Cannon), Sharon (Steve Ptaszek), Judy; sons Brad (Karee) and Bob (Julie); brother Mitch Sobo (Lois); brother in law Arnold “Butzie” Lehrman and sister in law Evelyn Flom (Harvey); grandchildren Jessica M Herb (Rick), Justin Moore (Mary April), Alec, Ryan, Ross, Jay and Jeff Lehrman. The family truly appreciates the care of Allina Hospice and all the love, support, and compassion of her caregivers and wants to thank Marlene Mosley, Jina Belle, Nina Ward, and Dr. Stuart Bloom. Sandy was born in 1921 into a large loving family on the north side of Minneapolis. During a time of depression and adversity her family was poor in possessions but rich in love of each other and community. Sandy moved to California shortly after high school during WW II and worked for the war bonds department of the Federal Reserve. A few years later she moved back to MN and married Moish. She was a homemaker and mother raising a loving family in St. Louis Park. Sandy had an amazing sense of optimism and a great positive attitude. She adored her family, friends and community and always had a grateful attitude of the gifts bestowed upon her in life. She tried to keep fresh flowers daily on her table to brighten the day as she brightened the lives of all who knew her. Services at Adath Synagogue 10500 Hillside Ln W, Minnetonka, MN 55305 1:00 PM Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. The family will be holding Shiva services on Sunday and Monday Dec. 22 & 23, at 7 pm in the community room of Laurel Estate Apts, 5610 Laurel Ave Golden Valley. Memorials preferred to Minneapolis Sabes Jewish Community Center or the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
