Sandra Mae Wood 03/03/1951-02/26/2025 Sandie Wood, born on March 3, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, with her devoted husband of 54 years, Doug Wood, by her side. Sandie met the love of her life, Doug, through mutual friends at Coon Rapids High School. They married on April 24, 1971, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, building a life together filled with love and cherished memories. She dedicated much of her career to public service, her first job being at the Anoka State Hospital, and then eventually working for the City of Coon Rapids before serving as a Senator's Aide at the Minnesota State Capitol. She spent the latter half of her career working for the City of Lino Lakes until her retirement. Sandie had a deep passion for government work and took great pride in her contributions. Beyond her career, Sandie found joy in traveling, sports, reading, playing games and crafting. She was an avid sports fan and was known for passionately cheering-or loudly voicing her frustration at the television during games. She loved going on cruises with family members, including her sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, and daughter. She was always up for a friendly game of cribbage, cards or dice against friends or her son. Sandie also had a deep love for animals and treasured the companionship of her pets over the years. Sandie faced life's challenges with remarkable strength and grace. She fought bravely against illnesses in her later years, never losing her humor or resilience. Her warmth, wit, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Burquest. She is survived by her loving husband, Doug; her children Dale Wood (Justin) and Alice McLennan (Tracy); and her beloved grandsons Jax and Henry. She also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, and sibling-in-laws. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 4th at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. A burial service will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Morningside Memorial Gardens, 11800 University Ave NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448.
