Sandra Josephine Turner

Sandra Josephine Turner (née Gowan), 82, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. Born in 1943 in Minneapolis to Harold and Velma (Plum) Gowan, Sandra attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Columbia Heights High School, Class of 1961. Sandra "Sandee" married Gerald Eugene Turner "Jerry" at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 1963. They soon welcomed Troy, Scott, Shannah, and Jerry Jr. Sandee and Jerry moved several times but spent most of their years together in Coon Rapids, later settling in St. Francis. Sandee enjoyed tending her flower gardens, attending her grandchildren's events, camping and going to car shows. She made many friends through her love of camping and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. She especially loved Christmas-decorating her home and hosting Christmas Day dinner for family and friends. Sandee was proud of her 43-year career as an Anesthesia Tech at Mercy Hospital. She was passionate about giving back to her community and volunteered her time at the Manna Market food bank in St. Francis. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Harold and Velma Gowan; her brother, H. Thomas Gowan; and her sister, Bonita Gayle Gowan. She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Troy (Catherine) Turner; Scott (Carrie) Turner; Shannah (John) Hane; and Jerry Jr. (Marie) Turner; grandchildren Jamie (Marc), Erica, Kayt (Luke), Kristin, Thomas, Sam, Mara, Austin, and Leighton; great-grandchildren Alex, Torin, Camden, and Ada Jo; sister Mary Perry; godson Joey Perry; sister-in-law Sandee Battier; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Oak Hill Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for the excellent care Sandee received. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 15, from 1:00-4:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 16, at 10:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, at the Church of the Epiphany, 11001 Hanson Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery at 1:30pm, 2600 19th Ave. NE Minneapolis, MN 55418. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, local food bank, or St. Croix Hospice.
