Sandra "Sandy" Butchek Hentila May 18, 1955 - December 14, 2025 MINNESOTA - Sandra "Sandy" Butchek Hentila, age 70, passed away on December 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of the family that meant everything to her. Sandy was born on May 18, 1955, in Ohio. As a young girl, she moved to Minnesota, where she grew up as one of six siblings. Alongside her three brothers and two sisters, Sandy helped cultivate a household defined by love, laughter, and a healthy dose of "shenanigans." After spending time in Oregon raising her two daughters, Sandy's heart eventually led her back home to Minnesota. She was a woman of "quiet confidence" and a fierce independence; she was a true "do-it-yourselfer" who possessed a fearlessness she never quite realized she had. Sandy was the undisputed life of the party. Whether she was traveling in the RV with her husband, John or on one of her epic girls weekends, zipping around on her scooter, or trying to stay upright in a kayak, she embraced every adventure. She loved the simple joys of life: sharing stories around a bonfire, playing cards and dice, and never turning down a shot of Fireball. She was naturally witty and sharp, often making those around her keel over in laughter without even trying. Her generosity was legendary. Sandy was the person who would literally give you the shirt off her back or the purse off her shoulder, always putting the needs of others before her own. Above all, she lived for her grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their lives. Delighting all of her grandchildren with her treasures and trinkets that she always had on hand, attending sporting events, and teaching them all how to play her favorite games. She was the kind of grandma who got on the floor to play no matter if it was trucks, blocks, make-up, hair brushing, or just sitting quietly watching a movie. They were her priority. Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, John; daughters Brand Butcheck and Rose (Matt) Burstein. Sons Corey (Heidi) Hentila and Brandon Hentila. Grandchildren Dominic Womack, Jaxon and Sally Beretta, Kayla, Johnathan, James, Jade, and Jax Lee Hentila. Along with a large circle of extended family and friends who will miss her humor and her humble heart.
