Ruth A. Rapson On Monday, October 30, 2023, Ruth A. Rapson, 92, loving partner/companion, Mother and Grandmother, passed away at Good Samaritan Society-Specialty Care Center in Robbinsdale, MN, under the care of their staff and North Memorial Health Hospice. She was preceded in death by, husband George Rapson, Parents Arthur and Eva, brothers Lawrence (Betty), Richard, Sister Eva Mae (Terry), George's parents, Robert R. and Annie Rapson, sisters-in-law, Ramona, Kay & Rene, among other In-laws and friends that she considered family. Ruth was born on February 8, 1931, in Duluth, MN to Arthur and Eva Johnson. She grew up in West Duluth, graduated from Denfeld High School in 1950, and went on to attend and graduate from Young & Hersh Business School. She began working for New York Life Ins. Co, then, after some time, she moved to Minneapolis having been offered a promotion to be top desk in the accounting department at that location. In 1961, Ruth was blessed, to meet and fall in love with, in her words, "Mr. Right", George L Rapson, they married in December of 1961. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with George's daughter Nila. In 1967, they welcomed their first child together, daughter Cheryl and a short 15 months later a son Bob, was born. Deciding together for Ruth to be a stay-at-home Mother, she retired after 17 years at NY Life. In October of 1971, sadly, George passed away & Ruth had two young children to raise on her own. She had a love of sewing and decided to use her talent to start her own business of making purses and selling them. This allowed her to be with her children and work at the same time. Over the years, she worked for a few other companies and retired permanently in 2001. In August of 2017, Ruth needed some help to care for herself and moved into Copperfield Hill Assisted Living, where she was fortunate to meet Tom DeCola, they fell in love and spent their time together, playing bingo, cards, choir, outings, etc. and pledging their love to each other with a beautiful ceremony held at Copperfield. Tom was always by her side and taking care of his "honey, Ruthie Ruth". Ruth had two grandsons Matthew and Tyler, whom she loved so very much and was most proud of! Over the years, they spent time together on trips to explore interesting places, doing what they called 20,20,20 as Grandma would go this many miles back and forth when she mixed up her directions and gave them all lots of laughs. They would also spend special weekends together swimming at Grandma's place and playing all kinds of fun games and just being together. She enjoyed her time at any activities they had going on in their lives, for support, as she was their biggest cheerleader! They were her special guys! Ruth is survived by Tom, Daughter Cheryl (Scott), Son Bob (Jeanette), Grandsons Matthew & Tyler, Sister-in-law Sevy and many other nieces, nephews, God children, cousins & friends that she loved dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Copperfield Hill for their help in Ruth's care as well as their friendship to her and the rest of our family. We thank the whole crew/staff at Good Samaritan Robbinsdale and North Memorial Health Hospice for their care and compassion during her last few months with us. Interment Crystal Lake Cemetery.
