Ruth Fraser Nordquist

Nordquist, Ruth E. Fraser age 96, of Robbinsdale. Born Jan. 15, 1913 in Mpls., and died peacefully on Jan. 28, 2009. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, brother, Douglas Fraser and son-in-law, Dennis Walthers. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Winton) Oftelie of St. Paul, MN, Jennifer Walthers of Indianapolis, IN and Martha Nordquist of Columbus, OH; son, Bruce (Katie McGaffigan) Nordquist of Robbinsdale, MN; grandchildren, Anders Oftelie, Alexander Oftelie, both of St. Paul, MN, Christopher (Kim) Walthers of Indianapolis, IN, David Walthers of Oviedo, FL, Sonja (Edward) Crooks of Copley, OH, Molly (Ben) Hartnell of Columbus, OH, Benjamin Nordquist of Mpls., MN, Air Force 2nd Lt. Keith Nordquist of TX, Marine Lnc Cpl Kenneth (Jessica) Nordquist of Flagstaff, AZ and Iraq; great-grandchildren, Anna Christine Crooks and Virginia Ruth Walthers, nieces and nephews, Bryon, Vicki, Annika and Braden Fraser of Bloomington, Janet and Russ Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy Staples of Houston, TX, Carol and Dean Nordquist of Crownsville, MD. Also many other relatives and friends. Graduate of North High School. Ruth was a charter member of the Robbinsdale Library Club, Robbinsdale Garden Club and North Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a past member of Elim Lutheran Bell Ringers, American Legion Auxiliary and a 50 year member of Robbinsdale O.E.S. She was an employee of Robbinsdale School District #281. Ruth was a gifted musician, and she loved to read, travel, dance, people watch and loved the time spent with her family. Ruth also had a great spirit of curiosity and adventure in everything she did. That curiosity led her to trips to the Caribbean, Europe, Mediterranean, China and a lifelong dream at the age of 93 with her trip to Israel. Her devotion to family and unwavering generosity created many shared experiences, joyous laughter and a lifetime of stories. Memorials are preferred to National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 West Broadway, Robbinsdale.
